Weight Watchers - Week Five

I wasn't going to blog tonight about how much I lost because I was so disappointed but here goes... I lost .2 pounds. Not 2 but .2 pounds. I couldn't believe it! I have not cheated. I counted my points after every meal. But I guess that my body has a mind of its own. Actually I am blaming it all on "Aunt Flow"! She got here yesterday and I think that she is causing me to retain water or something. ;)

I know that .2 is part of a pound and that next Monday, my weight lose will be good. At least I lost, right?

Anyway, after the meeting, a small group of girls went to dinner at Applebee's and it was so yummy! I laughed so hard that I cried. I love to laugh and spend time with fun people. We are starting a supper club and decided that we are going to eat at Applebee's once a month. Look out Applebee's here we come!!

Swimmers Ear

Hello everyone! I just wanted to do a quick blog! I am totally going through bloggers block and try to think of things all day that I can blog about. Usually Mason is doing things that I can blog about but this week.....

He has swimmers ear! I took him to the doctor Monday and got some ear drops. He screams when I take his shirt off. He screams when I dry his hair. If I barely touch his ear, you guessed it, he screams. After 5 days of ear drops and no relief, we went back to the doctor today. We have new drops to try. Pray that they work. He can't swim for another 5 days and he begs all day long. Poor little fella!

True South Carolina Ghost Story For You

This happened about a month ago just outside a little town in the
low country of South Carolina, and while it sounds like an Alfred
Hitchcock tale, it's real. This guy was on the side of the road hitchhiking on
a real dark night in the middle of a thunder storm. Time passed slowly and
no cars went by.

It was raining so hard he could hardly see his hand in front of his
face. Suddenly he saw a car moving slowly approaching and appearing
ghostlike in the rain. It slowly crept toward him and stopped. Wanting a ride
real bad the guy jumped in the car and closed the door, only then did he
realize that there was nobody behind the wheel.

The car slowly started moving and the guy was terrified, too scared
to think of jumping out and running. The guy saw that the car was slowly
approaching a sharp curve, still too scared to jump out, he started to pray and
begging for his life; he was sure the ghost car would go off the road and in the
marsh and he would surely drown, when just before the curve, a hand appeared
through the driver's window and turned the steering wheel, guiding the car
safely around the bend. Paralyzed with fear, the guy watched the hand reappear
every time they reached a curve. Finally the guy, scared to near death, had all
he could take and jumped out of the car and ran to town.

Wet and in shock, he went into a bar and voice quavering, ordered
two shots of whiskey, then told everybody about his supernatural
experience. A silence enveloped and everybody got goose bumps when they realized
the guy was telling the truth and not just some drunk.

About half an hour later two guys walked into the bar and one says
to the other: "Look Bubba, there's that idiot who rode in our car
when we was pushin it in the rain."

My Baby Sister

I have a baby sister and her name is Amy.
I love her so much and if you know her, you don't blame me!
She has a sexy husband.... I like to watch him work,
Especially if I'm lucky and he peels off his shirt!
We really look nothing alike at all,
She's blonde, I'm brown, She's short and I'm tall!
She has two boys who are handsome, that's for sure
And if she takes off her glasses the world's all a blur!
We both have ghetto booty's that we are trying hard to lose,
She would lose hers faster if she would stop hitting her snooze!
She works at the Bank, I think she does something with loans,
But all I've seen her do when I'm there is talk on the phone!
Her hair sticks straight up like a porcupines back,
If you touch it you might bleed, and that surely is a fact!
She taught me how to knit while we were at the Snow,
She was really, really patient, row after row.
She does have blonde moments every now and then,
But all and all, she is one of my very best friends!

Weight Watchers - Week Four

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that I have lost 10 whole pounds! Not 9 and not 11 but 10 pounds! I am so stinkin excited that I feel like I could run a marathon..... Okay, so maybe I'm not quite that excited. I am so proud of me and that is a really great feeling! I have about 7 pounds to go before I will start to maintain and that will probably be the hardest part. The weight is just sort of falling off now and it is going to be hard to stop! I have been walking a lot this week because I can earns points by walking.... which, to all of you who don't understand Weight Watchers, means that I can sneak in a WW Giant Fudge Bar late at night and still lose weight! Anyway, thanks for letting me brag a little bit. I have worked pretty hard to lose 10 pounds. I bypassed brownies this weekend and birthday cake two weeks ago. I bought Mason a milkshake and not one for me. I ate a veggie burger instead of pizza, which, by the way, was REALLY yummy and almost better than a real burger. I walked in 93 degree heat just so I could eat a chocolate muffin. And last but not least, I have not had fast food in 4 weeks! That in it's self is huge for me!

How Strong Is Your Faith?

If you are anything like me, your life is definitely not always smooth sailing. There are bumps along the way that are hard to get over, some harder than others. Have you ever noticed that the devil doesn't bother non-believers as much as Christians? It's because the devil has already won over the non-believers. The Christians are the ones that he wants. The people who are strong in their faith will battle the mishaps in their lives all the while asking, "Why is God doing this to me?" "What did I do to deserve this?" "Why? Why? Why?" I think that God is testing you. I think that He puts difficult situations in your life to see what you will do with it and how you will handle it? Will you run with the devil or fight with God at your side?

Everyone is faced with trials. How do you overcome them? YOU can't overcome them without the help of God. He has to be in your corner or you will probably just run circles around your problem instead of fighting it head on.

"When Satan comes to tell you that you are a great sinner, look up to your Redeemer, and talk of His merits. That which will help you is to look to His light."

Copy Cat

Mason and I were eating dinner the other night and I noticed that he had his left hand, in a fist, on top of the table. I asked him why he was doing that and he said that his daddy holds his hand like that when he eats dinner. I have never noticed that Brett does that but sure enough, he does. Mason pays attention to even the smallest details.

Isn't that scary? No matter what we are doing, no matter how small the action may seem to us, our children are watching and learning. Mason wants to be just like his daddy, God help us, and he mimics all of Brett's actions. When Brett mows the grass, Mason is right behind him pushing his toy mower. When Brett weedeats, Mason is right behind him with his toy weedeater.

So, to all the parents or Aunts and Uncles, or whatever, watch how you act around kids because they are watching and learning.

Weight Watchers - Week Three

Tonight was our Weight Watchers meeting. I am very pleased to let everyone know that I have lost 7.2 pounds in three weeks!! It may not sound like much to some people but to me, it's huge! I only wanted to lose about 15 pounds when I started so I am almost half way to my goal. It is so easy and I look forward to Mondays every week. The meetings are so motivating. I always leave so pumped up about losing weight. My goal this week is to walk 45 minutes at least 3 days. I bought a book on CD to help the time go by fast while I walk. Wish me luck!!!

This was sent to me via e-mail. It gives you something to think about...

"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back."

Today I am thankful. Thankful that I was able to get up and go to church. Thankful that my brother was there and sat beside me. Thankful that when given the option of going to church or staying home with his daddy, Mason wanted to go to church. Thankful that when Mason asked a slightly balding man at church what happened to his hair, that the sweet man was able to laugh about it. Thankful that even though mom has a broken foot, she was still at church this morning. Thankful for Ivette. Thankful that Brett did laundry this morning. Thankful for forgiveness.
I'm just thankful. What are you thankful for?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGIE!!!

I have a big sister, Her nickname is Nanny Annie,
Me and her together are trying to lose our fanny.
She will always be older than me, yes it's really true,
And as much as she'd like to change it, there's nothing she can do!
I call her when I'm happy and I call her when I'm sad,
I call her if I need a purse made with polka dots and plaid.
I used to sneak into her room and steal her hidden snacks,
But now instead of cookies, she'll be needin' Depends and Ex-lax!
She's climbing up the HILL of life, she's almost over the top,
If she doesn't get some extra support, her boobs will start to drop!
Bring on the Geritol, my friends, the fiber and all those pills,
Because my big sister is almost OVER THE HILL!
Her kids drive her bonkers and now her hair is turning gray,
Just what she wants to be reminded of on her 36th Birthday!

Swim Lessons

Mason jumped off the high dive and didn't even hesitate!
He landed right on top of his instructor!

Mason started swim lessons this week and let me just go ahead and tell everyone that he IS the best swimmer in his class! He is the youngest and the smallest but he is definitely the best! Of course, I am a little bit partial!

He talks a lot while the instructors are trying to teach but he's three.... What do they expect? He told one of his swim teachers that he passed gas in the pool. We all got a laugh out of that!

I'm So Excited!!

I joined Weight Watchers about 2 weeks ago. I have been wanting to lose about 15 pounds ever since I had Mason but just haven't taken the time to do anything about it. My big sis joined with me and we are trying to hold each other accountable. It's really easy and really exciting.

I went last night for my second weigh in...... I lost 5.6 pounds and I am so stinkin' excited. I have about 10 pounds to go and then I guess I will learn how to maintain. Anyone who wants to lose weight should join WW! If I can do it, anyone can!

Excuse Me... Pardon Me!

Lately this is one of the short conversations that we have with Mason. "Mommy, I'm sorry I said a bad word." "Well, Mason, what did you say?" "I said shucks." "Mason, that isn't really a bad word."

5 minutes later......

"Mommy, I'm sorry I said a bad word." "What did you say?" "I said doodoo." "Mason, that's not really a bad word."

5 minutes later......

"Mommy, I'm sorry I sucked my teeth."

1 minute later......

"Mommy, I'm sorry I sucked my teeth."

5 minutes later......

"Mommy, I'm sorry I said a bad word." "What did you say?" "I said stupid." "Mason, please don't call anyone stupid."

I could go on and on and on. I promise that on that way home today, he apologized at least 15 times about something. Not long ago, Mason picked up a bad word from somewhere. We do not curse at our house so it must have been while we were out and about. Anyway, it was a REALLY bad word. I had a serious talk with him about how cursing disrespects God and that He does not like bad words or bad behavior. Now Mason thinks that every adjective that he uses is a bad word. God love him!

Our Little Getaway

For our 5 year anniversary, Brett planned a surprise trip that I found out about the day before. He gave me a suitcase and told me to pack enough for one night. "Where are we going?" "You'll have to wait and see."

Brett had already called and gotten me the day off, made arrangements for Mason to stay at his mom's house and asked Ivette to feed the dogs. Impressive, huh? I thought so. Anyway, he didn't tell me where we were going until we were on the way. He had a room reserved at the Victoria House in Charleston. Ahhhhhhh! Isn't he the best?

So, we checked into our room. It was a very charming room overlooking King Street. We walked and walked and walked downtown Charleston. We window shopped and walked through the market. Eventually we did make it back to our room for a nap. I am not a nap taker but let me tell you that I was so tired and slept for about 1 1/2 hours!

We ate dinner at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. and it was really good! Then off to the movies we went and watched Click. Very cute movie! We had a great night just being together. I am the luckiest women around!

5 Year Anniversary

Anyone who knows Brett, knows that I am one of the luckiest women around! At a time in my life when I thought that love was hopeless, he found me and change my mind real quick. Brett can melt my heart with just a smile. He is compassionate and understanding. He is my soulmate and I thank God for him. We have been married for 5 years on Friday and I would marry him over and over again. If you could look inside my heart you would definitely find that Brett's name is written all over it. I never imagined that I could love someone like I love him. He is my yesterday, my today and my tomorrow.
Happy 5th Anniversary Brett! I love you today, tomorrow and forever!

Our 4th of July!

We are so lucky to live in Beaufort, where the river goes on forever!

Best buds!!
